Pozzolana from Natural Rocks
Granite for its high strength and texture is abundantly used for building construction. It may also be used as a source of natural pozzolana. Pozzolana is a siliceous or siliceous and aluminous material which, in itself, possesses little or no cementitious value but which will, in finely divided form and in the presence of water, react chemically with calcium hydroxide at ordinary temperature to form compounds possessing cementitious properties. Certain granite rocks have been identified which posses the pozzolanic character and can be used as cementing material in construction.
